AR =  GPH x 1.604Area (ft²)

Variables

AR = Application rate in inches per hour

GPH = Gallons per hour in irrigated area

Area =  Area being irrigated in square feet

Constants

1.604 = Constant representing how many square inches squared per 1 gallon

 (  12 in.  1 ft.)(1 ft³7.48 gal ) = 1.604 (in. ft²/gal)
